This project's scope included demolishing73m (240 feet) of the existing portion of Supply Wharf K11 and constructing a new concrete wharf on concrete piles with the capacity to support supply loading and unloading operations. To create space for the upgraded wharf, the project will demolish existing waterfront transit storage/staging facilities and construct a new 4,505 sm (48,486 sf) Waterfront Transit shed of a single story steel frame building with metal roof deck, asphalt concrete pavement, concrete and pile foundations, supports for utility service, fire protection, cargo container loading docks, and security cage. A two-story concrete structure will be constructed on the northern end of the new Waterfront Transit shed to house wharf operation offices, rest rooms, break rooms, conference/training room, elevator, mechanical and electrical rooms, fire pump room and a hazardous material storage area. Utility work will include relocation of water, drain and fuel lines, addition of two fuel risers at the west end of K-11, relocation of light poles, and the addition of operational area lighting. Electrical service from Building 479, Station K4, will be terminated for Building 478. The existing Station K4 along with the breaker and underground feeder will support the proposed storage facility. A fuel feeder line and 70 meters of additional sheet pile bulkhead will be included as additive items. Department of Defense Anti-terrorism/Force Protection Construction Standards are incorporated into this project.
