This project required extensive site work throughout the two mile foot print of the project. Included in this site work was the relocation of numerous utilities, including natural gas, electrical, fiber optics and communication systems. The project required the removal of approximately 2 miles of railroad track and the reconstruction of a new railroad embankment and 6000 LF of railroad, including a new rail bridge. New utilities were then hung from the underside of the new bridge. Watts Constructors installed new utility systems, handled contaminated soils, and demolished several buildings under this contract. The finished site work included road reconstruction, paving of both roads and parking areas and landscape restoration. The roadwork paving was on a state highway that crossed the realigned railroad tracks and it was performed at night to minimize the impacts to traffic. The project was completed on time despite scope changes and schedule conflicts with other contractors. The safety record for this project was outstanding: zero injuries, zero first aids, with 24,000 man-hours worked.
