The original project included the removal and replacement of existing ductile iron pipe (DIP) force main with HDPE pipe including concrete vaults, manholes, air release valves, blow off drains, culvert crossing restoration, pavement hatching, and pigging inlet and outlet facilities. Once the project was near completion and the system was in operation, a change order was negotiated to build the Yosemite Valley Lift Station. This portion of the project included new deep wet well consisting of three, 10-foot diameter by 28-foot deep wells and one 6-foot diameter by 28-foot well, as well as Interior waterproof coating of all manholes and wet wells. Over 100 lineal feet of 18 and 15-inch diameter SDR-35 sewer piping was installed by horizontal drilling method. This process was selected to minimize traffic impact in the Yosemite Valley. The construction work also included open cut excavation and installation of 200 lineal feet of 15-inch HDPE piping, installation of control vaults, instrument vaults, sewer manholes, wet well pumps and grinder system. A new generator building consisting of a back-up generator, MCC unit, SCADA system and a diesel fuel system including a underground tank was also built.
