Canal Improvements Phase I & II, Concord, California
 

 

Project Status: Completed

Phase I of this project involved making improvements to various sites along the Contra Costa Canal from Antioch to Concord.  The work included the replacement of a total of 12 pump discharge pipes at Pumping Plants No. 1-3, the replacement of a total of 11 lateral sluice gates, and canal lining replacement and crack repairs at 4 different sites, while bypassing pumping the active canal up to 50,000 GPM.

 
Phase II of this project
involved making improvements to various sites along the Contra Costa Canal along the Diablo Loop and Los Medanos Wasteway.  Miller/Watts Constructors, Inc. replaced electric gate operators at seven check structures.  The work also included lead-based paint removal and repainting, regrading and paving, concrete footings, electrical work, a new treadplate, and handrail and
hand winches at catwalk and trashscreen sites.
