This project involved the repair to an existing Type III hydrant fueling system at Elmendorf AFB in Alaska. The project required the demolition of existing PPC concrete hard stand and taxiway concrete paving, the excavation to expose the existing buried existing 14” stainless steel fuel piping. Once exposed the lateral fuel lines to sixteen existing hardstands which connected to the main fuel piping were cut. New lateral piping was installed the main pipeline was relayed to proper line and grade and the trench filled with engineered material. The new PCC concrete panels were poured and the asphalt paving was replaced around the hardstands. The main line and lateral pipes then received a particle blast which cleaned the system of any slag. The work in the Type III pump house consisted of removing all the existing control vales, rebuilding and reinstalling them and commissioning the pump house and complete hydrant fueling system.
