Watts Constructors has a formal mentoring program with Bulltrack Construction Company, an SBA 8a high voltage and electrical contractor. This partnership allows Watts to provide extensive high voltage and electrical distribution and transmission systems. This project consists of upgrading the existing utility systems which include water, sewer, storm, natural gas and electrical improvements at Fort Baker. These systems are made up of 6" and 8" water line installation, valves, fire hydrant installation, 6" , 8", 10", 15" sewer line installation, manhole repairs and installation, and 12", 24", 36" storm drain installation. The work also involves an upgrade of the electrical and tele/data systems, including over 2 miles of new duct bank installation as well as new manholes. Fort Baker, a historically significant facility within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, dates from the Civil War. Fort Baker contains unique and sensitive archeological and natural resources. Any construction performed in such an area must be executed with environmental concerns as a top priority. The open spaces and hillsides surrounding the construction site contain habitat for the endangered mission blue butterfly. There are also 300 species of migratory and resident birds that find refuge in the Marin Headlands and surrounding protected wildlife areas.
